HSBC HK features out of the world perks in space adventure campaign

HSBC has been rolling out campaigns to promote its products and services and has launched new TVC and OOH ads to promote one of its credit cards, featuring actor Dayo Wong, singer Ronald Cheng and two members of boyband MIRROR including Lokman Yeung and Tiger Yau.

The campaign "Takes you further every day" includes a video telling the story of Cheng, Yeung and Yau coming to the earth as they are on a mission to save a planet. However, with limited fuel, they are forced to land on the earth. Soon after their landing, they are on the street and do not know how to continue their mission before Wong tells them to spend money and earn mileage. With enough mileage, they can redeem a ticket and go on with their journey.

The story illustrates  that with HSBC's EveryMile credit card, cardholders can enjoy a wide variety of perks and obtain mileage very rapidly, such as paying the parking fee, buying coffee and taking buses. The bank said, "Our EveryMile Credit Card campaign leverages new technology to attract, engage, and interact with customers but more importantly, we are appealing to a wide range of local audiences with culturally relevant content and generational talents as they are 'space rangers' and ambassadors for our product launch."

HSBC is also in collaboration with PHD Hong Kong to roll out interactive OOH, starting with a 3D TV ad showcasing the spaceship in the video. The ad was launched on Matheson Street at Causeway Bay, a high-traffic location that the bank hopes to maximise the impact of the campaign. By adopting AR, HSBC also invites audiences to take part in an ongoing interactive game. Participants need to look for three pieces of the space rangers’ flying saucer scattered around the city and retrieve them to win rewards. The locations of the pieces can be found at the 3D installation displayed at Queens Road Central, the 3D TV, and the light show outside HSBC’s main building.
