Sydney independent brand consultancy Houston Group has strengthened its creative leadership, promoting two senior creatives and welcoming a high-profile return from London.
Founding creative Alex Toohey has been named chief creative officer–partner, stepping up to lead the agency’s creative vision across clients including Qantas, Ampol and Toyota. Executive creative director Alex Creamer, who has driven work for Westpac, McDonald’s and NRMA over the past 18 months, also takes on an expanded leadership remit.
Joining them is Jacquie Halloran as design director, returning to Australia after a decade at global agencies including Made Thought in London. Her portfolio spans Chanel, Burberry, Commbank, Sydney Festival and the Maybourne Hotel Group.
“This is about building the best possible conditions for creative excellence — pairing the strategic rigour we’re renowned for with the design leadership and creative firepower to match,” Toohey said. “Jacquie’s passion is already making an impact. Together, our creative team are positioned to push boundaries and produce work that reflects both the ambition of our clients and the agency.”
Creamer said Houston’s independence was a competitive advantage. “Great creative isn’t just about standing out; it’s about moving our clients closer to their ambitions. Being independent gives us the freedom to stay agile and adapt to whatever challenges come our way - and this new leadership chapter provides even greater scope to deliver on the big visions our clients bring to the table.”
Halloran said she was drawn to Houston’s strategic focus and creative culture. “I’ve always sought out leaders who challenge my thinking and push for creative excellence. After my time in London, I’ve returned with a renewed appreciation for the opportunities we can create here in Australia, and a broader perspective that shapes work to be both compelling and effective for our clients.”
The changes are effective immediately.
