Hong Kong Resort Company has appointed Charlotte Ho (pictured) as assistant general manager of branding and marketing, a new department set up by the company to strengthen Discovery Bay's image as a lifestyle destination.

Ho told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that the new team, consisting of seven members, will work on plans to strengthen Discovery Bay's position in the city's tourism landscape, offering leisure, dining and hospitality experiences in an exotic environment. "We want both local Hongkongers and overseas visitors to know that Discovery Bay is not only a residential area for expatriates only. Here, they can enjoy a lot of experiences. We hope to invite visitors to celebrate their happy moments with their beloved families and friends at Discovery Bay," Ho said.

She added that Discover Bay is recruiting PR and media agencies for collaborations in the future, as Discovery Bay will proactively reengineer the area into a unique seaside destination for everyone."

Ho joined Hong Kong Resort Company as director of hospitality, marketing and membership at Auberge Hospitality, the hospitality arm of Hong Kong Resort Company in 2019. In this position, she was responsible for overseeing the membership and marketing functions of brands under Auberge Hospitality, including Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong, Discovery Bay Recreation Club, Club Siena, Discovery Bay Golf Club, DB Ice Rink, Lantau Yacht Club and Peony Chinese Restaurant. After more than two years and seven months, Ho was promoted to her new position on 1 April. Currently, she is responsible for heading the new department to drive the new initiatives.

The development comprises a 453-room resort hotel, a shopping mall, yacht and country club and residences. Ho also worked Hong Kong Resort Company in the early stage of her career.

She was a founding team member of Discovery Bay destination marketing of Hong Kong Resort Company from 2007 to 2015, when she was instrumental in positioning and establishing Discovery Bay as a leisure destination in Hong Kong, introducing and organising large-scale and signature events including Easter Egg Hunt, Sunday Market, Summer Fun on the Beach.
