Plaza Hollywood makes foray into the metaverse, features three eco-game zones

Hong Kong shopping mall Plaza Hollywood has made its first venture into the metaverse with a game that brings visitors on an excursion, while also offering shopping perks to lure customers to spend.

The game “Plaza Hollywood MetaGreen Village Adventure”, created in collaboration with Hong Kong tech startup Air World, allows visitors from 3 May onwards to log into the "AiR–Adventure In Reality" mobile app and connect to the "Hong Kong" metaverse to gain access to various game zones in the virtual Plaza Hollywood via QR codes and GPS at the actual mall entrances. The game transforms Plaza Hollywood into a verdant eco-village, offering visitors a virtual escape to unwind with a sense of nature through a series of virtual games.

In the metaverse, Plaza Hollywood is transformed into a 3D virtual eco-village featuring three themed zones, namely “Harvest Farm”, “Jungle Park” and “Green Town”, with separate paths. Players can try gardening, feeding chicks, fishing, catching butterflies, logging, and waste recycling to receive necessary items to complete assigned missions. To play the games, players need to log into the everyday game to receive props such as axes, insect sweep nets, and fishing rods.

Moreover, Plaza Hollywood will offer a variety of monthly missions in the three themed zones, providing players with games, challenges and rewards. To offer more convenience, players can also scan the QR codes in the mall to receive a "welcome toolkit".

Apart from the games, Plaza Hollywood also allows players to win rewards in the mall as they can receive exclusive shopping vouchers from Plaza Hollywood merchants. Missions in May will be centred on Mother’s Day, where players can redeem floral-scented hand cream and nourishing and moisturising masks upon completing the missions.

Lastly, in support of the government’s latest consumption voucher scheme, Plaza Hollywood has launched a spending rebate programme with shopping vouchers totaling more than HK$1.5 million. The campaign is running from 22 April to 26 June on every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday, shoppers with a HK$1,200 or above same-day spending via electronic payment methods or 120 VIC points can redeem a HK$200 shopping voucher combo for designated merchants ranging from F&B, fashion and beauty.
