H&M MY FB flooded with concerned customers as it files police report for alleged hidden cameras

H&M Malaysia has made a police report after Twitter users expressed concerns over footages from hidden cameras in its fittings room at a store at Kuala Lumpur made its way online, according to media reports. The images were found to be sold online.

Since then, H&M Malaysia has conducted an inspection of all fitting rooms and are currently working to guarantee that there are no security breaches that will compromise the privacy of customers, the company said in a statement to LifestyleTech, quoted on The Star.

On Twitter and Facebook, H&M Malaysia has also released an official statement which says that it has conducted an inspection of the fitting rooms in all H&M stores in Malaysia and are working to ensure that there are no security breaches that will compromise the privacy of our customers.

“Our customers’ safety is of utmost importance to us. All findings about the recent concerns about hidden cameras in H&M fitting rooms to date have been reported to the police, and investigations are currently ongoing,” it said.

Unfortunately, the statement was met with a slew of comments with consumers expressing their unhappiness or worries about privacy. One netizen commented that a [court] case should be filed against the brand for negligence.

There are allegations made that the footage that the hidden cameras recorded is being sold on the Internet. Sellers claimed to have clips of both individuals and couples in the fitting rooms.

The Twitter user posted an update after and an alleged individual claimed that they recognised themselves in one of the clips. Furthermore, the same individual claimed that the clip was taken in October last year.
