The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has tapped Japanese rising star Kōki, the daughter of famed actor Takuya Kimura, to front a promotional video, highlighting the beauty and vibrancy of Hong Kong.
With 3.6 million Instagram followers, Kōki, a model and actress, rose to prominence in Japan, bolstered by Takuya’s legendary status in Asia’s entertainment industry.
Titled “Kōki's journey through Hong Kong” (光希 Kōki 漫遊香港足跡), the video documents Kōki's footprints across Hong Kong, including a ride on the upper deck of an open-top tram, touring around Hong Kong island to witness the bustling street scenes.
Clad in a white shirt, she kicked off her journey to the iconic landmarks in Central and Sheung Wan. As the actress explored the exhibition in Tai Kwun and PMQ with a film camera, Kōki said that every corner of the city hides surprising inspiration, imagining herself as the characters in the paintings.
The short tour concluded in a ride on the traditional Chinese junk, Aqua Luna, sailing across Victoria Harbour to take in the city's nightscapes.
Featuring Hong Kong’s skyline, iconic trams, and nightlife, the video has leveraged Kōki’s appeal to engage with young travellers, promoting the city’s cultural scene. Through intimate stories and vivid imagery, it urges viewers to explore Hong Kong and chase their own dreams.
Kōki said that from the unique architectural aesthetics of Tai Kwun to the colourful murals in the streets of Central, from the clear ringing of trams shuttling through skyscrapers to the intoxicating scenery of waves lapping against the shore of Victoria Harbour, every moment in Hong Kong is as charming as a scene from a movie.
“This city always inspires my imagination, making me eager to explore more different experiences every time I visit!” Kōki added.
A check by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE saw the video on Kōki's Instagram has drawn over 20,000 likes, with some Hongkongers suggesting the authority to invite Kōki's superstar mother, Shizuka Kudo, and her model sister, Cocomi, to the city.

Done in collaboration with online travel platform Klook, airlines and industry stakeholders, this year’s festival took place on 15 and 16 February, seeing over 140 South Korean visitors, including sports-loving celebrities, athletes and influencers.
