The Hong Kong Tourism Board has launched a digital campaign to promote the 2025 Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival - its first to use AI to reach travellers across the decision-making journey.

Developed in partnership with Dentsu and StackAdapt, the campaign adopts a full funnel media strategy that connects with travellers from inspiration to booking.

By leveraging AI-driven insights and identifying high-intent travellers, HKTB aims to re-engage them through strategic placements on travel platforms such as Agoda, Expedia Group, Skyscanner and Tripadvisor. This approach ensures HKTB delivers precise, relevant messaging at every stage of the travel planning process.

Dentsu Hong Kong unified its media innovation and AI capabilities to craft a strategy that connects travellers from inspiration to booking. To maximise impact, the brand partnered with StackAdapt to integrate advanced tools to help HKTB track overall tourism lift and physical attendance at the festival.

“This campaign reflects dentsu’s commitment to pioneering AI in marketing,” WaiChung Au, managing director of media at dentsu Hong Kong, said. “We’re driving forward a vision of responsible, transparent and impactful AI. This strategy showcases how our capabilities can elevate destination storytelling and deliver measurable value for our clients.”

“Our AI-powered platform is helping travel brands reimagine what’s possible when planning visitation drives for events such as Hong Kong’s Wine & Dine Festival. No one else in the market is offering insights such as these across the travel vertical and we can’t wait to see the results once the campaign concludes,” Liam McCarten, APAC vice president at StackAdapt, said.

Don't miss: HKTB to enhance visitor experience with AI-powered tourism map

HKTB’s push into AI doesn’t stop there. The organisation is set to launch a digital tourism map in 2026, featuring real-time AI-powered trip planning and queue updates for popular attractions.

Tourism commissioner Angelina Cheung Fung said the digital map aims to help distribute visitor flow by guiding tourists to attractions at different times. The map is expected to launch next year.

Cheung Fung said the system will reference theme park maps to display queue times for different attractions and use AI technology to generate personalised itineraries based on travellers' preferences.

Displaying queue times will help visitors better manage their schedules at popular sites. The AI trip planner will analyse user-provided interests, such as culinary, cultural, and outdoor pursuits, to suggest optimised routes and experiences.
