HKT and Quality HealthCare has co-launched mental health consultations and psychiatric services, offering customers access to specialty services for the first time.
The latest addition is available on HKT’s one-stop telemedicine platform DrGo. As the public is getting aware of mental health issues, DrGo and Quality HealthCare have expanded the scope of services from general practice only to mental health video consultations, including counselling and psychotherapy, along with psychiatric services.
Psychiatric video consultation is the first specialty service being offered on the DrGo platform, providing a more comprehensive healthcare experience for users. The remote counselling and psychotherapy consultation will be conducted by counsellors or registered psychologists, who will help users cultivate a positive attitude and develop an optimistic outlook through education and by establishing a close and trusting relationship with them. Following professional assessment and if deemed necessary, users may be referred to psychiatrists who specialise in mood disorders, psychological problems, insomnia, anxiety, depression and other psychiatric disorders.
The companies said the new service not only removes the need for users to physically visit a clinic, but also allows them to choose an environment where they feel safe to share their personal mental health concerns, enhancing the overall treatment progress and experience. Meanwhile, in response to the pandemic, DrGo and Quality HealthCare will jointly provide chronic disease caregivers from South Kwai Chung Social Service with 100 free remote counselling sessions on the DrGo platform. Through this initiative, the two companies hope to ease some of the stress experienced by these caregivers.
"This collaboration allows our services to benefit the wider community, helping the public better manage their physical and mental health anytime, anywhere," said Elaine Chu, general manager of Quality HealthCare.
"In recent years, we have actively promoted the advancement of digital healthcare, combining online and offline services to bring the public more comprehensive and personalised protection. We believe that we can help users overcome some of the barriers to seeking mental health support by allowing them to open up in an environment of their own choosing," she added.
Aside from video consultations on DrGo, a wide range of healthcare products and services are also available on the DrGo Health Store online. Currently, Quality Healthcare provides five categories of products and services including check-ups, eye examinations, cancer screening, vaccination services and dietary consultations, making it the healthcare partner with the most comprehensive offerings on the DrGo Health Store.
"By employing HealthTech and collaborating with different healthcare providers, we are committed to offering more diverse and more user-friendly remote consultation services. Looking ahead, we aim to expand our services into the areas of chronic disease management and dietary consultations, supporting the public with healthcare services of higher quality," said Ringo Ng, managing director of HKT’s Consumer Group.
