HKBN Group has named Sam Tan as its chief innovation officer (CIO), a new position that supersedes the responsibilities of the traditional chief information officer role. He has also been named as a company co-owner.As CIO, Tan will be responsible for the group's information technology strategy. His goal will be to drive innovation for greater internal efficiency, improving HKBN's position to help external customers reap the full benefits of the company's digital transformation."We must break free from the legacy backend-focused IT framework. We are here to deliver total business impact rather than crunching input costs and effort," said Tan.Prior to this appointment, Tan was vice president and CIO at AECOM. He has more than 30 years of experience in IT leadership, serving in relevant positions at several major companies including Liz Claiborne, UPS Supply Chain Solutions, HP, and FedEx.NiQ Lai, HKBN co-owner and group CEO, commented, "Backing his conviction to positively impact HKBN with far more than just words, Tan has made an upfront one-year gross salary investment into our co-ownership plan, which is consistent with all seven existing members of our management committee.""By having material skin-in-the-game, we ensure our aligned commitment to a successful internal transformation, so we can help our external enterprise customers thrive from theirs," Lai added.
