The Hong Kong Advertisers Association (HK2A) and the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong (HK4As) have jointly called on the government to explain the reason for HKTV's failed bid for a free TV license. Both associations agreed that free consumer choice and equitable selection on TV stations should be encouraged, they said via a statement."We request reasonable explanations from the government on this controversial decision to the public, and call for greater transparency on such an important decision affecting our industry.”On 15 October the government announced two free television licences would be issued to i-Cable's Fantastic TV and PCCW's HK Television Entertainment Company. HKTV's application, arguably the most aggressive of them all, was rejected without explanation.
