Hong Kong is extending its Wine & Dine Festival beyond its four-day waterfront run with Hong Kong Gourmet Month, a November programme of dining offers for festival goers.
Organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) with the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB), the festival will take place from 29 October to 1 November at Central Harbourfront Event Space and Tamar Park under the theme “Taste the World’s Best.”
This year's festival features more than 340 booths, an increase of over 10% from last year, with the event footprint extending to Tamar Park. It brings together wines and delicacies from around 31 countries and regions, including debut pavilions from Australia, Canada and South Korea. For the first time, the festival will offer limited-edition, expert-led guided tours and tasting experiences, and on Friday and Saturday evenings it will extend opening hours until 1am.
The "Grand wine pavilion" will feature rare and prestigious wines from leading regions. The French selection includes Château Lafite Rothschild 2016 and Mouton Rothschild Pauillac 1er Cru 1982, alongside Burgundy labels such as Clos de Bèze from Domaine Armand Rousseau. Wines from Spain, Italy and Chile will also be featured, including Vega Sicilia Unico 2015 and VINA VIK VIK in a six-litre Imperial bottle.
The "AMEX GOURMET CLUB", sponsored by American Express, will bring together Michelin-starred, Black Pearl-awarded and acclaimed dining establishments with a combined total of 15 Michelin stars and five Black Pearl Diamonds. A total of 26 hotels will participate at the Central Harbourfront, while Marriott Bonvoy will host its largest-ever presence with 14 Hong Kong hotels. The "Tasting Room" will present a 10-hand collaborative banquet under the theme "Taste of Time", featuring chefs Edward Lee, Yoda Chen, Lau Yiu-fai, Thierry Marx and Justin Yang.

In alignment to HKTB’s global tourism drive “Only in Hong Kong”, the festival will introduce a series of locally inspired "Only in Hong Kong" offerings, including a black sesame soy milk pudding tart, popping salted lemon 7-Up cocktails, Bella Spritz with salted fish milk foam, and Mei Kuei Lu handcrafted liqueur chocolate. Henderson Land Development and Maxim's Group will present limited-edition anniversary treats marking their 50th and 70th anniversaries respectively.
New for this year is the "Wine walk", featuring three themed guided routes covering Cabernet Sauvignon, classic Old World terroirs, and unconventional wine and food pairings. More than 20 masterclasses and expert tasting sessions will also be held. A "Sunset Party" will take place on 29 and 30 October, and the "Coffee village" in Tamar Park will serve specialty coffees and non-alcoholic beverages.
In an effort to promote sustainability, HKTB is partnering with EcoCeres, a renewable fuels technology company incubated in Hong Kong, to bring the "From plate to plane" concept to life. Used cooking oil will be collected on-site during the festival and converted into sustainable aviation fuel.
HKTB Chairman Peter Lam said this year's festival would feature its strongest line-up to date, and that the launch of Hong Kong Gourmet Month would give locals and visitors the chance to "Taste the world's best" through a series of wine and dine experiences running from late October.
“This year, in addition to presenting the strongest-ever line-up for the Festival, HKTB will launch ‘Hong Kong gourmet month’ in November. Starting from late October, a series of wine and dine experiences will run throughout the month, giving both locals and visitors the opportunity to ‘Taste the world’s best’. From world-class wines and top-rated cuisine to creative ‘Only in Hong Kong’ culinary delights and a host of limited-time experiences, everyone can immerse themselves in Hong Kong’s vibrant dining scene day and night. Through these initiatives, we aim to encourage visitors to stay longer and spend more, creating additional business opportunities for the trade," Lam added.
