Hang Seng Bank has unveiled a new brand campaign celebrating its commitment to supporting table tennis development in Hong Kong for more than 35 years.
Beyond sponsoring competitions, the bank established the Hang Seng Table Tennis Academy to provide structured training and development opportunities that help young athletes build skills, confidence, and sportsmanship.
Through this latest campaign, Hang Seng aims to bring its decades-long legacy to life, encouraging more youth to embrace the sport and inspiring aspiring athletes to represent Hong Kong, China on the international stage.
Developed in partnership with creative agency BETTER BUTTER and media agency EssenceMediacom, the campaign centres on a story-led brand video, complemented by social and digital content across professional and consumer platforms. Filmed around the new Hang Seng Table Tennis Academy training centre and familiar neighborhood settings in Shatin, the short film evokes childhood nostalgia while fostering a strong sense of community connection.
To preserve authenticity and capture genuine athletic passion, the campaign features real current and former Academy participants across generations coming together for friendly matches. The cast includes star athlete Wong Chun-ting, Asian Games women’s doubles bronze medallists Doo Hoi-kem and Ng Wing-lam, rising player Li Ki-ho, and seven-year-old Yu Cheuk-hei from the Under-nine Squad.
Supporting content highlights the tangible impact of Hang Seng’s long-term sponsorship, which includes over 71,000 participants trained through the Academy and around 160 graduates who have gone on to represent Hong Kong, China - among them three Olympic and five Asian Games medalists. The campaign also builds anticipation for Hang Seng’s role as the presenting partner bringing the upcoming WTT Hong Kong Finals 2026 to the city.
Promoted through an integrated media strategy spanning LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, outdoor billboards, MTR in-train advertisements, and Hang Seng bank branches, the initiative targets parents, young athletes, sports enthusiasts, and key ecosystem stakeholders.
Betty Law, head of communications, Hang Seng Bank and HSBC Hong Kong, said, “The video goes well beyond table tennis. It is about the perseverance, discipline and commitment a young person needs to excel at something they care about. That is a spirit we hope young people will carry with them, in sport and in life. We are also grateful to the Hong Kong, China Table Tennis Association for the trust and partnership we have built over more than three decades."
"The longevity of this partnership is something we are very proud of, and I think it says a great deal about the trust between our two organisations and the values we share: a belief in long-term commitment and in nurturing the potential of young people," she added.
