Ride-hailing and food delivery platform Grab will be discontinuing its GrabPay Card from 1 June 2024 and users will be unable to make online or offline transactions with the physical or digital card from this date.

The decision comes after an evaluation of Grab's existing financial services business, it said.

"We have observed much higher adoption and use of other Grab offerings (such as PayLater by Grab, GrabPay Wallet) that better cater to the needs of our users. We aim to thus concentrate our efforts on refining these products to provide an even better user experience for you," it added.

It will also no longer be accepting new applications for its digital or physical GrabPay Card, from 1 April.

Users can request for a replacement of their physical GrabPay Card until 30 April. They will also be able to continue earning GrabRewards points on all eligible online and in-store transactions both locally and overseas with their GrabPay card until 31 May.

Grab explained that GrabRewards points will not expire and that there will be no impact on the GrabPay Wallet balances of users.

There will also be no changes to the number of GrabRewards points you will earn on transactions, but the non-refundable 2% processing fee will still apply for overseas transactions.

Users who already have their physical GrabPay card but who have not activated it yet can do so till 31 May.
