Gojek has thrown support with promotional merchandise and paid-for holiday trips to both the lady who gave birth during a ride to the hospital as well as to fellow Gojek driver.
For those who may have missed the news, we got you covered. A baby was delivered in a Gojek vehicle last Friday and the mom shared a Facebook post three days after to thank the driver for being calm and helpful during the ride. The new mom also said that the Gojek driver refused to take the extra cash for cleaning up the mess in the car.
Marking as the first baby to be delivered during a Gojek ride in Singapore, the ride hailing company told Marketing that it will present both parties with personalised gifts, including a specially-designed baby onesie. The mom will be receiving SG$500 in medical subsidies and a baby car seat. In addition, Gojek is also offering SG$500 in ride vouchers to defray the medical and transport costs from the regular health checkups that the new parents and their baby will need to attend.
Meanwhile, Gojek’s driver-partner will be receiving a bursary worth SG$500 for each of his two children, a fully-paid vacation worth SG$2,500 for his family, as well as SG$500 as a medisave top-up. “We hope to help the father-of-two further his children’s education, cover his healthcare costs, and spend more time with his family, an activity that we know he loves,” the spokesperson said.
Two years ago, Grab offered SG$8,000 worth of ride vouchers to the couple who made headlines as the first the lady went into labour during a Grab ride in Singapore. Subsequently, an ST article said that there have been close to four cases of birth in a Grab car ride to date.
