Globe Telecom will be launching a Siri-like voice control API (application programming interface) next Month with Tropo Inc.
Globe is planning to tap new revenue streams by letting software developers use voice and messaging functionality into their applications. This includes call control, call management, text to speech, speech recognition, messaging and recording among others.
Glenn Estrella, vice president for digital media at Globe, said that it opens new services using voice over internet protocol (VOIP) to Globe subscribers such as Interactive Voice Recording that perform conferencing, recording, voicemail and content and information retrieval,
“We are very excited to collaborate with Globe Labs in the Philippines and help local developers to integrate communication functionality in their applications in order to enhance customer experience and engage with their customers in meaningful conversations” said Jason Goecke (pictured), CEO of Tropo.
Globe is latest addition to Tropo’s carrier partners such as AT&T and China Telecom. Tropo was previously known as Voxeo Labs and is based in California.
