Gavin Simpson parts ways with Ogilvy Malaysia

Gavin Simpson, chief creative officer at Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia is exiting the company.

A spokesperson from the company confirmed the news to A+M, stating that Ogilvy will not be replacing Simpson’s position.

Moreover, in line with the company’s recent regional creative management announcement, Ajab Samrai has been appointed chief creative  officer for Ogilvy ASEAN. Ogilvy Malaysia’s creative remit will fall under Samrai’s leadership.

“Simpson joined Ogilvy Malaysia in 1991. With the exception of a few short stints at other agencies over the years, he has been a part of the Ogilvy family for more than 20 of his 27 years in the industry. He has had both a long and illustrious career, spanning markets and countless creative awards,” the spokesperson from Ogilvy said.

“Simpson has decided that now is the time to leave on a high. Given the creative leadership already in place – with thanks to Simpson’s succession planning – it is business as usual at Ogilvy Malaysia,” the agency said.
