GAB sees senior management changes

Guinness Anchor (GAB) yesterday threw a celebratory party to honour outgoing managing director Charles Ireland and to celebrate the appointment of Hans Essaadi (pictured) as the new MD.

Ireland, who first joined the brewery in 2006, assumed the role of general manager of marketing before being promoted to managing director a year later.

Essaadi, who takes on his new role on 1 March, has been with the Heineken group for over 20 years.

In addition, Sean Koh, who was marketing manager for the Tiger portfolio, has assumed the role of trade promotional and pricing activity. Taking over Koh's role is Tai See Wai, who now oversees the Tiger portfolio (Tiger, Anchor and Anglia Shandy).

Peter Khemlani, former marketing manager of the Guinness portfolio (Guinness, Kilkenny and Malta), has been transferred to Diageo PLC.

GAB tells A+M it will soon announce Khemlani's replacement as well as a new marketing director to take over Yap Swee Leng's role.

Jessie Chua has also been appointed the marketing manager for team Heineken, in charge of Heineken, Paulaner and Strongbow, while John Wong now assumes the role of head of trade development and support activities, leading the implementation of GAB's professional services (GPS) programme.

In its Carnival-themed party last night, GAB also celebrated its 11th consecutive year of revenue, volume, market share and profit growth under Ireland's leadership.

"Apart from us hitting the major milestone of 11 consecutive years of growth, I believe we have also made significant progress in each of our strategic thrusts - people, brands and performance," said Ireland.
