Former MediaCom Malaysia managing director Neal Estavillo is now vice president of creative solutions at Astro, Malaysia’s broadcast organisation.
A+M has reached out to Estavillo (pictured) and Astro for comments on his latest role.
Estavillo, who joined Astro since May 2017 was the MD of MediaCom Malaysia for the past five years and contributed in leading the agency’s development in Malaysia. He oversaw some of the most prominent regional and local pitch wins for the company such as P&G, Fonterra, Sony Mobile and Coca-Cola. He was replaced by Chanchal Chakrabarti, who was previously regional director of MediaCom since 2012.
Prior to MediaCom, Estavillo was the managing director of JWT Worldwide for about six years.
In its latest effort to strengthen foothold in the local content space, Astro expanded its partnership with Turner Asia Pacific with a joint venture (JV) on Warner TV. The deal comprises co-production, as well as co-ownership of Asian content for global reach, distribution of Astro content, and carriage of the channel on both Astro and Tribe.
On top of that, the company has agreed to a strategic partnership with Korean content and media company CJ E&M (CJ) on e-sports and on-ground events. They will also co-produce signature and original IPs for ASEAN, marketing and distribution of Korean content.
