Delivery platform foodpanda has commenced an island-wide search for its first chief savings officer (CSO) who will be tasked with creating and spreading the word on irresistible deals for foodpanda users in Singapore.

In return, foodpanda will cover SG$1,500 worth of the CSO’s expenses to shop, eat and save to their inner foodie’s delight each month as the campaign aims to celebrate Singapore’s ardent foodies and bargain hunters.

The CSO will additionally receive a SG$2,000 monthly foodpanda creator fund to fuel their passion for sharing their best tips and hacks in a six-month contract. To sweeten the deal, foodpanda’s CSO will also have insider access to upcoming deals and promotions.

"We recognise that the rising cost of living means our customers increasingly want budget-friendly options. Our aim is to provide foodpanda users with an affordable way to access their food and groceries," said Darryl Chua, marketing director, foodpanda Singapore in conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.

"Through the appointment of our first CSO, we aim to show our customers new and creative ways of getting more value out of their spends while still enjoying unparalleled convenience," he explained.

To apply, individuals must post a one-minute video on Instagram pages sharing their best money or time-saving tips on food or groceries. Applications open from 1 to 30 April 2024.

“Consumers in Singapore take food very seriously - they appreciate a delicious meal, and equally appreciate discounts, so much so that it can be as serious as a full-time job for them,” added Chua.

“When we envisioned our ideal candidate for this role, what came to mind was: we all have someone in our circle who seems to always know about the best deals, whose recommendations are always spot-on," he also said.

The campaign comes in the wake of foodpanda’s recent onboarding of PayMe’s CMO Jaslin Goh as the new APAC vice president of marketing earlier this month, succeeding Anna Znamenskaya.

Based in Hong Kong, Goh will report directly to John Fang, CEO foodpanda. Within her new role, she looks after 11 markets that foodpanda operates in Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and the Philippines.
