First Initiative Foundation (FIF) has partnered with Wharf Malls to display two 1:1 robotic dinosaur installations at Harbour City and Times Square in Hong Kong to encourage public engagement after the fifth wave of covid in the city.

As one of the largest outdoor exhibitions launched recently, the partnership aims to encourage public engagements and provide relaxations, by inviting public to take photos with the massive creatures for free and participate in a series of dinosaurs-themed activities.

Harbour City showcases the 4.6M high x 12M long Tyrannosaurus rex (T-rex) at "Ocean Terminal Deck" from now on to 17 July, while Times Square showcases Thagomizer tall bearing Stegosaurus that is 3.7M high x 9M long at "Open Piazza" from now on to 10 July.

According to FIF, these pre-historic animals are scientific accurate and custom built, which were reconstructed under the supervision of paleontologists and with the latest scientific knowledge about these animals. The two shopping malls are also organising an array of dinosaur-themed activities, allowing visitors to experience the dinosaur world in an all-round way. All proceeds of the activities will be donated to FIF. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to FIF for additional information.

Meanwhile, children can enroll at Dinosaur Academy at weekends upon donation, where they can learn about the history and knowledge of dinosaurs in Cretaceous and Jurassic, get up close with paleontological fossils, use their creativity and imagination to draw their own dinosaur, and finally become "Little Dinosaur Experts".

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, FIF also teams up with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in presenting a large-scale exhibition "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: The Big Eight – Dinosaur Revelation" from July 2022, showcasing original specimens of the most iconic fossil skeletons.

Yen Leng, Executive Director of Wharf Estates Limited said: “This is the first time for shopping malls in Hong Kong to display robotic dinosaurs at iconic Hong Kong backdrop. With an educational focus, this exhibition allows the public to see and photograph the robotic dinosaur up close and for free.”

Leng also added that through exhibitions and special offers, joint promotions with various business partners, as well as events, pop-up stores and flash sales by merchants and brands, a multi-pronged approach is used to attract more traffic and drive spending.

"HC & TS always try to bring unique, happy and one of a kind experiences to the visitors besides shopping and dining especially during pandemic when travelling is still difficult for HK people. The event is a collaboration with FIF and was planned last year targeting kids & families, dinos lovers and for everyone who love to share photogenic check-in spots. It is a good timing to launch in June when most of the activities have resumed after fifth wave of covid." Leng said.
