In another senior hire from Microsoft, Facebook has appointed Charlene Chian (pictured) as communications lead for Asia Pacific.
Chian comes to the social networking giant with over a decade and a half of industry experience having worked for Microsoft and Ogilvy in the past.
She oversees all communications responsibilities for Facebook across Asia Pacific, in markets such as Korea, Japan, India and Australia-NZ and her duties include management of product, corporate, emerging markets issues and priorities.
Chian reports directly to Debbie Frost, head of international communications at Facebook.
At Microsoft, where she spent 10 years as senior PR manager, she was in charge of PR strategic counsel, issues/crisis management, media management and international press and subsidiary outreach.
Prior to that she was at Ogilvy as a senior consultant and worked on brands such as HP, StarHub and Nokia.
Late last year Facebook appointed Meg Sloan to lead marketing communications and Namita Mehra as global customer marketing lead, for the Asia Pacific region.
Prior to her work at Facebook, Sloan was senior director of consumer research for eBay and held positions at Microsoft and other firms in the internet industry.
Both Sloan and Mehra are based in Singapore and support Facebook's Asia Pacific sales team led by Stephen Dolan.
