Facebook HK launches online education programme to support small businesses

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, brands and businesses have been searching for extra resources to strengthen the digital skills of their teams. To meet this need, Facebook Hong Kong has partnered with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Retail Management Association (HKRMA) to launch a two-phase online education series for small-to-medium businesses (SMBs).

Aimed at providing online resources for businesses to grow and acquire digital skills, the first phase of the “SMB Go-Digital Programme", which rolled out today, will offer participating SMBs free online consultations with Facebook experts and access to a host of online resources to boost business. Resources include webinars, on-demand videos of panel discussions, and resource guides for industries such as eCommerce, retail, and travel.

“At Facebook, we’re working to keep people safe and informed about the recent COVID-19 epidemic. We know that many businesses, especially small businesses, are impacted. We’ve listened to Hong Kong businesses to understand how we can support them and are working with our partners to provide as much support as possible to help them weather these unprecedented challenges,” said Jayne Leung, vice president and head of Greater China at Facebook.

Facebook will also be joining HKTDC's "Transformation Sandbox programme" (T-Box) as an advisor, providing educational sessions and webinars tailored for Hong Kong companies that have joined T-Box to achieve specific business transformational goals.

The next phase of the “SMB Go-Digital Programme” will invite members of other partner organisations to join, including Cyberport, the Hong Kong Productivity Council, and SME Lab. The entire programme is expected to benefit more than 10,000 Hong Kong SMBs.

“Recent challenges have shown how crucial technology and digital platforms are to business and our everyday lives. We want SMEs to succeed and transform into stronger businesses even during these tough times, and we are delighted to join hands with global leaders such as Facebook to make this happen,” said Patrick Lau, deputy executive director of the HKTDC.
