Ex-Viacom exec named PH head of RTL CBS Asia

Singapore-based RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network has recently roped Viacom head honcho Rene Esguerra to be the company’s new country head for the Philippines.Esguerra (pictured) will be reporting to Daniel Fung, executive vice president of distribution, RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network, and will be tasked to oversee distribution and advertising sales.Prior joining the JV, Esguerra worked at ACCION for 17 years as its general manager and then its Chief Operating Officer where he worked with international broadcasters like Discovery, Disney, STAR (now Fox International Channels), and NBC Universal, among others.“The Philippines is a very important market for us.  With Rene as a valuable addition to our management team, we look forward to closer collaboration and greater engagement with our local partners," Fung commented.RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network  is a joint venture between US-based CBS and European TV giant RTL Group last August to target the fast-growing markets of South East Asia, featuring shows from RTL's production unit FremantleMedia (America's Got Talent, American Idol, The Biggest Loser, etc) alongside CBS hit shows (Amazing Race, CSI, NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, etc)
