Independent agency Enigma has appointed Aldo Ferretto as creative director and head of art, reuniting him with chief creative officer Simon Lee in a move that strengthens the agency’s creative leadership.
The hire is Lee’s first since taking on the creative reins at Enigma in March and marks a continuation of one of Australia’s most awarded recent creative partnerships. Ferretto will be responsible for building an integrated design team and working closely with Lee, creative director Matt Ennis, and senior creative Cam Brown.
Ferretto brings nearly two decades of global experience across agencies including LOLA MullenLowe, DDB Spain, Publicis Australia, Leo Burnett Buenos Aires and Lowe & Partners Chile. His work has been recognised at D&AD, Cannes Lions, One Show and Clios.
He and Lee previously teamed up at The Hallway, producing standout work including the Boys Do Cry campaign, the launch of Binge, and Suncorp Bank’s “Banking you can feel good about” platform. Their partnership also helped win Australia and New Zealand’s only design Lion at Cannes in 2024 for Wholegreen Bakery’s Cardboard Cake.
“When I joined Enigma, I committed to building a world class creative team and Aldo’s appointment is a big step towards achieving that goal,” Lee said. “In the 6 years that Aldo and I have already worked together, I’ve experienced first-hand the value that his exceptional eye for craft and unique conceptual vision brings to brands. I’m excited by what I know he will bring to Enigma’s stable of clients.”
Ferretto said it is incredibly exciting to join Enigma in this new chapter. "The agency has an outstanding 33-year track record of delivering strong commercial results, backed by a truly integrated creative and media model. There’s a bold creative ambition here to produce world-class work for ambitious brands - and that really resonates with me.”
