Energy Monster creates initiative to boost awareness on organ donations

Taking advantage of a popular product is a useful way to convey a message. In China, leading power bank rental company Energy Monster has created an initiative to help create awareness for organ donations.

In collaboration with the China Organ Transplantation Development Foundation, the Love & Hope Organ Donation Volunteer Registry, and TBWA\Shanghai’s Design by Disruption studio, Energy Monster has offered power banks in five different designs – highlighting some of the most sought after organs such as hearts, corneas, kidneys, lungs, and livers, with information on how to help people who are in need.

Designed by TBWA\Shanghai’s Design by Disruption studio, the power banks are now on offer across 30 Chinese cities.

The rental transactions are completed through Energy Monster’s WeChat site, which gives users the location of the closest power bank. This site also hosts information about organ donations, and also directs users to the Love & Hope Organ Donation Volunteer Registry.

“Life is unique to each of us, but sharing means that we can have a bigger impact on each other. We hope this initiative will help people learn more about organ donations, and contribute to save lives together,” said Hu Junwen, brand marketing director of Energy Monster.

Additionally, Energy Monster will donate RMB0.2 to the China Organ Transplantation Development Foundation for each “Life Sharing Power Bank transaction”, and RMB0.1 will be donated for each regular power bank rented.

“Many critical patients have been waiting for organ transplantations for a long time. The patients who are successfully matched are very lucky. We hope this initiative will offer more opportunities to increase the number of successful matches,” said Zhao Hongtao, vice-president and secretary-general of the China Organ Transplantation Development Foundation.
