Emirates appoints new VP for HK, Guangzhou and Taiwan

Emirates has appointed Fernando Suárez de Góngora as vice president for Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Taiwan.In his new role, Fernando Suárez de Góngora is responsible for leading Emirates’ sales and promotions efforts and will focus on strengthening the carrier’s market share in the three territories. In addition, he will lead the airline’s operations and oversee key stakeholder relations in the markets he is responsible for.“I am delighted to be continuing my journey with Emirates and returning to Hong Kong once again for this exciting new opportunity,” he said . “These markets have been developing at an accelerated rate, with Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Taiwan at the forefront of progress and change. I look forward to further growing our presence and success in these key territories and achieving new milestones under the Emirates brand.”Prior to Emirates and between 1995 and 2006, Fernando Suárez de Góngora held several senior management positions within the aviation sector in Europe and the Far East, the last of which was a general manager role based in Hong Kong, covering Greater China and the Philippines as part of the scope.Fernando succeeds Edwin Lau who retired from Emirates earlier this month after serving the airline since 1992 and in various roles, the most recent of which was as VP serving the same stations from June 2007 to November 2018.
