EMC Corporation has appointed Danny Tam as general manager in Hong Kong and Macau.
Reporting to Denis Yip, senior vice president, EMC Corporation and president of EMC Greater China, Tam will play a key role in overseeing EMC’s corporate strategy and in driving business growth and market leadership in Hong Kong and Macau.
Tam has over 30 years of IT industry experience in management and a comprehensive understanding of the IT, finance, telecommunications, government and public sectors.
He was most recently the General Manager of VMware Hong Kong, responsible for business strategy planning and the operational management of sales, channels, services and marketing business units of the company in Hong Kong.
“Danny brings to EMC a unique blend of skills and knowledge together with a wide breadth of IT experience including storage, servers, virtualisation and more, complemented by his extraordinary vision and operational expertise within large organizations. I’m confident that he will bring added depth and valuable insights to his new role,” said Yip.
Commenting on the appointment, Tam said: "The IT industry is in a period of rapid transformation and businesses are redefining their operations and strategies to capture the opportunities brought by cloud, mobile, big data and social."
Before joining EMC, Tam was the general manager of Sun Microsystems in Hong Kong.
