Edelman's global tech chair leaves firm after 19 years

Edelman’s global chair of technology sector Sanjay Nair (pictured) will be departing the firm after 19 years to go on a career break. 

Nair said on his LinkedIn post that he is proud to have been the first Asian to hold a global chair role within the firm, "I have treasured the opportunity to build trust for leading brands, both locally and globally - consulting on corporate reputation, brand, and product marketing. I have also valued the chance to embrace different cultures and work with some of the brightest minds in the industry,” he added. 

“I am grateful for the amazing journey I've had over the past two decades, which has taken me across India, Singapore, China, and the US. Driving success, learning new skills, making friends and in the process becoming a better human being,” Nair said. 

As he looks back on his time at Edelman, he said he is humbled by all the company achieved together and excited by the possibilities of the future. "With AI transforming our world and industry, I am re-inventing myself in pursuit of exciting new opportunities for continued impact,” he added. 

He will also take a break after the departure and move back to China or Singapore, "I will be taking a short break and moving back home or Singapore – can’t wait! I will keep you all updated on my next adventure," he said.

Nair has worked for Edelman for over 19 years, according to his LinkedIn. Currently, Nair oversees more than 700 sector specialists across the network, with a strong and diverse client portfolio. He is responsible for shaping advisory offerings that help companies navigate global policy challenges while building long term reputation and trust, evolving traditional product communications offer to a holistic marketing solution driving measurable business impact. Furthermore, he explores white space opportunities around technology intersections with health, auto, financial services and food, among others.

Nair joined the company in 2004 as a director and was promoted to global chair for technology sector in October 2017. He has held multiple leadership positions in the regional technology sector, client management, and country operations. Nair previously acted as head of Asia tech in Singapore and served as HP regional CRM and chief operating officer for Edelman China. Most recently, he was president for Edelman US Western region overseeing clients and teams across the Bay Area, Pacific Northwest and Los Angeles.
