Deliveroo Hong Kong extends initiative to further address food insecurity

Deliveroo Hong Kong has extended its Food Drive initiative to all of its restaurant partners by inviting them to join the cause and encourage additional donations.

The extension of the initiative, in partnership with Feeding Hong Kong, is aimed at raising further awareness towards food insecurity in the city and encouraging Hongkongers to get involved in this important issue. The brand said a number of restaurants had expressed their interest in joining the movement, with signups from Beef and Liberty, Ootoya, and KNEAD now confirmed.

"With new restaurant partners on board across the city and a new surge in donations, we can work together to help ensure that as many mouths as possible get fed. Battling the fight against food insecurity is one that takes an entire community, one Deliveroo Hong Kong is proud to lead," said Brian Lo, general manager of Deliveroo Hong Kong.

Launched in June 2020, the campaign has raised over HK$1,000,000 in donations from its customers, resulting in supporting 200,000 nutritious meals to those who are most in need in the city. An additional surplus of charitable items have been donated thanks to Deliveroo’s Food Drives in Sai Ying Pun and Quarry Bay, an initiative that kicked off in January to raise further donations for disadvantaged families throughout the celebratory period. Its app also offers customers choice to either round up their totals or make an extra contribution to Feeding Hong Kong.

"We’re deeply grateful for the support we’ve received from Deliveroo Hong Kong and their customers over the past year, which has played a vital role in helping us meet this demand. By scaling up our partnership to include Deliveroo Hong Kong's restaurant partners, we'll be able to keep addressing this need in the year ahead," commented Gabrielle Kirstein, CEO of Feeding Hong Kong.
