DBS HK sends CNY wishes to Hongkongers through WhatsApp stickers and a greeting card

As we may see less of our families and friends in this upcoming Chinese New Year, many of us will leverage digital channels to send wishes to them. To engage Hongkongers, DBS Hong Kong has teamed up with renowned local artist and illustrator Siu Hak to offer a digital greeting card and WhatsApp stickers.

Under the theme of “Prosper more, Waste less”, DBS Hong Kong invited the public to reuse old photos and greeting stickers from previous Chinese New Year. After that, Siu Hak upcycled the submitted photos and stickers to create a digital Chinese New Year greeting card, allowing people to download them via DBS Facebook Messenger before sending them to their families and friends from 12 February onwards.

Moreover, Siu Hak has also created a special-edition collection of adorable CNY stickers featuring his signature comic-book character Panda-a-Panda alongside DBS mascots Xing and Jaan. These stickers are available now.

“This Chinese New Year appears to be a bit distant due to the pandemic, that’s why I intentionally emphasised my drawing in red to offer a stronger festive ambience to the public online,” said Siu Hak.

He also explained the design ethos of this collection. "To echo with the bank's cause of ‘Prosper more, Waste less’, I only used my tablet throughout the entire creative process. This paperless method is a first for me. It’s a good feeling and it really shows how technology can enable a more sustainable lifestyle."
