Daisuke Iwase (pictured centre) has joined Hong Kong virtual insurer Bowtie as senior advisor.

Iwase is the co-founder of Lifenet Insurance Company (Lifenet), Japan’s first digital life insurance company. In 2012, he successfully took Lifenet public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Currently, Iwase is a managing partner at Hong Kong-based Tiger Gate Capital, advising fintech and healthtech venture companies.

In his return to the insurtech sector, Iwase will join fellow advisor John Tsang in helping to strengthen Bowtie's foothold as a leading virtual insurer in Asia.

"Bowtie has tremendous potential to change the game and bridge the health protection gap for millions of people across Asia. I’m excited to join a fast-growing team like Bowtie. The pace of technology change has continued to accelerate and customers are now readier than ever for digital channels. Bowtie is well-positioned to take on the challenges and seize this opportunity," said Iwase.

"Every new digital insurer, including Bowtie, has studied Lifenet closely. Iwase is a true trailblazer and has been generous in sharing his advice with young entrepreneurs," added Michael Chan, co-founder and co-CEO of Bowtie.

"I am confident Iwase will help guide our young team through Bowtie’s growth and expansion ahead."
