Converse names new CMO

Nike Inc's ConverseĀ brand has appointed Sophie Bambuck to the role of CMO, replacing Julien Cahn who, according to Bloomberg, left the company in February to join streetwear label Supreme.Converse's spokesperson confirmed the appointment toĀ Marketing. She will report toĀ CEO Davide Grasso.Bambuck was previously the senior marketing director, Nike sportswear, Western Europe, for about two years, according to her LinkedIn. In that role, she led the strategy and execution of campaigns and product launches. According to her LinkedIn, she played a "pivotal role in re-igniting" Nike Sportswear, and rekindled the brand's position as a leader in Europe's sneaker culture.Prior to that, she was Nike's brand director, running, North America for approximately three years, where she co-created the first Nike+ Run Club. Bambuck was also the global brand manager for Nike Energy offense, as well as global associate brand manager and associate brand manager, North America for Nike Sportswear.Cahn's exit from the company was unrelated to the internal investigation regarding misconduct that Nike Inc. is currently conducting, Bloomberg stated, quoting its sources. This news comes amidst several senior departures from Nike Inc. Recently, the company's VP of footwear, Greg Thompson, left the company, along withĀ VP of global brand digital marketing innovation,Ā Daniel Tawiah andĀ senior brand director for basketball in North America,Ā Vikrant Singh.Last week, Antoine Andrews, Nike Inc.ā€™s VP of diversity and inclusion, left the company after helming the role for over two years. His departureĀ came shortly after Nike Incā€™s VP and general manager of global categories Jayme Martin,Ā left the companyĀ following complaints regarding inappropriate behaviour. The news came soon after president of Nike brandĀ Trevor EdwardsĀ resigned fromĀ Nike Inc. According to theĀ Wall Street Journal, both men have been accused of protecting male employeesĀ who degraded womenĀ and bullied employees from foreign countries.
