Coffee subscription company Hook Coffee expands into Malaysia

Hook Coffee, a Singapore-based coffee company that offers flexible coffee subscription services, has expanded into Malaysia. Hook Coffee allows consumers to subscribe and make online purchases for coffee equipment, coffee beans, nitrogen flushed drip coffee bags and Nespresso compatible ShotPods.

In celebration of its launch in Malaysia, it is offering a free coffee brewing kit when users subscribe to their first bag of coffee, inclusive of free shipping. Consumers who do not require coffee brewing equipment can get their first subscription order at 50% off. It is also setting up pop-up stores at co-working spaces and office buildings before its official launch at the Malaysia Coffee Festival 2019 on 25 July.

In a statement to A+M, Hook Coffee’s spokesperson said that it selected Malaysia due to the country’s similar coffee culture and close proximity to Singapore. When it comes to operating models, the spokesperson said Perk Coffee Asia would be Hook Coffee’s closest competitor.

Co-founder Ernest Ting will oversee the marketing team in Malaysia and it plans to engage in digital strategies, as well as offline activations at various locations around Malaysia to raise brand awareness. The spokesperson said Hook Coffee aims to have its own physical space and kiosk located in Klang Valley. The company also hopes to expand into Hong Kong and the Middle East.

“At Hook Coffee, we are constantly striving to improve our products and services with the customer first and foremost on our minds, hence the business expansion was a vital step to ensuring a seamless journey for all our customers, especially our friends in Malaysia to experience the perfect cup of coffee in the morning,” Ting said.
