IPG Mediabrands has appointed Chris Chen to the position of CEO for IPG Mediabrands China.

Based out of Shanghai, Chen will report to Leigh Terry, the CEO for IPG Mediabrands APAC, with the appointment becoming effective as of mid-January 2020. It acts as a return home of sorts for Chen, who served more than 5 and a half years as the IPG Mediabrands China CFO.

?We are delighted to welcome Chris Chen back into the IPG Mediabrands network at a time when our China business is growing from strength to strength, particularly through our investment in data and strategic technology partnerships,? said Daryl Lee global CEO IPG Mediabrands. ?I?m confident that Chris? entrepreneurial leadership style, and growth mindset will continue our forward trajectory in China.?

Chen?s filling of the position will swiftly follow the departure of current CEO Tom Wan at the end of the year. Lee commented, ?Tom has led the Mediabrands China network through a transformational growth period over the last three years. It?s time to take on a new challenge, and he leaves with our sincere thanks and best wishes.?

In addition to his previous history with the media and marketing solutions division of Interpublic Group, Chen has accrued more than 15 years of progressive leadership experience in strategic financial and operational roles across a number of media networks. These include serving as the COO and CFO of DDB Greater China and putting in eight years in several roles at GroupM China.

Commenting on his new position, Chen said, ?It?s exciting to re-join the IPG Mediabrands fold at this time. We have stellar leadership talent driving our agency brands, and strong opportunities to continue building our client proposition and network reputation in market.?
