Cathay names new head of corp comms

Cathay has appointed Betty Wong (pictured) as head of corporate communications, reporting to Ivan Chan, general manager of corporate affairs, Cathay.
In her new role, Wong is responsible for the overall corporate communications strategy to protect and promote the Cathay Group’s reputation and brand image.
Wong brings experience in corporate communications, reputation management, crisis and issue management, as well as strategic project leadership across the technology, media and publishing, finance, and biotech industries.
Before joining Cathay, Wong managed executive communications and brand strategy at the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
Wong previously served as regional corporate communications manager, Asia Pacific, at Google, where she drove APAC campaigns and executive engagement focused on cybersecurity and privacy, sustainability, and arts and culture projects. She also created cohesive narratives and provided training to empower domain experts and executives.
Earlier, she shaped APAC PR strategy at the CFA Institute, where she was tasked with promoting the chartered financial analyst designation as the highest industry standard for excellence, ethics and education.
