Digital travel platform Booking.com is partnering with three local photographers to present a sustainable Hong Kong in three lenses: environment, architect, and community, leading local travellers to unveil the many different faces of Hong Kong with captivating views that they may have missed in everyday life.

The “Sustainable Hong Kong Through Your Lens” photo exhibition will be held at Hyatt Centric, Victoria Harbour from 30 September to 6 October 2022, featuring the work from three photographers Francis So, Kevin Mak and Timmy Lo, to discover the beauty within sustainability and Hong Kong with stories told by photos.

Committed to caring for people by supporting the communities and operating with caring for the planet, Hyatt Centric, Victoria Harbour Hong Kong is supporting Booking.com’s initiatives as a venue sponsor of the photo exhibition. The three photographers’ work will be visible to thousands of guests staying at the hotel. Located in Hong Kong Island with a panoramic view of the Victoria Harbour, Hyatt Centric, Victoria Harbour Hong Kong has been investing 1% of its revenue back into the community or sustainable projects and acting as a platform for local artists to display their talents.

Kyle Fu, area manager of Japan, Hong Kong and Macau at Booking.com, said: “Booking.com has been dedicated to making sustainable travel choices easier for everyone, with respect for local communities, environments, and biodiversity. During the time when international travel is being disrupted by the pandemic, we saw travellers were finding alternatives to traveling and our survey shows that this tendency will prolong even outbound travels are gradually resuming in the region. Apart from promoting sustainable travel overseas, we believe it is equally important for travellers to recognise that sustainable travel is possible locally, and encourage them to observe the often neglected, yet sustainable sides of Hong Kong.”

Francis So, who was in charge of the environment section, said, “I am very honoured to be one of the photographers taking part in this photo exhibition as the natural landscape has always been my passion and I believe striving for a sustainable travel behaviour is the utmost priority for the global community. Hong Kong’s natural scenery is highly significant geologically, naturally, and culturally and my photos have showcased the fascinating yet untended side of these landscapes. I hope they could help travellers to recognise the importance of sustainable travel while they are enjoying the beauty gifted by great nature.”

Patrick Sin, general manager of Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong, said: “Caring for the planet is a natural extension of Hyatt’s purpose – to care for people so they can be their best, and the World of Care is Hyatt’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) platform. At Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong, we are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact by making a difference through our daily processes focusing on areas of climate change and water conservation, waste and circularity and responsible sourcing. For example, to mitigate climate change, the hotel is committed to serving high welfare and sustainable food products, whenever possible, and giving preference to reusable, compostable or recyclable products instead. We embrace our responsibility to advancing environmental actions so that Hong Kong and other destinations around the world remain vibrant for our existing and future generations.”
