Blue Bottle unveils Neri&Hu-designed concept store in Taikoo

Blue Bottle Coffee has expanded its Hong Kong presence with the opening of its latest location at Cityplaza, Taikoo Shing. This landmark debut marks the brand’s first local collaboration with the renowned design practice Neri&Hu, resulting in a space that masterfully blends Eastern and Western cultural narratives.
The architectural language of the new cafe is built around the core concept of "Hong Kong Streets," meticulously showcasing the city’s historical trajectory through industrial details such as wrought iron, folding doors, and decorative frames.
The visual focal point of the interior is a striking grid structure that serves as a modern reinterpretation of traditional scaffolding, bamboo weaving, and ironwork patterns. The intricate interweaving of these linear elements echoes the rich layers and textures found within Hong Kong’s urban landscape.
Simultaneously, everyday hardware and industrial metal accessories are cleverly transformed to create a contemporary environment that connects the brand's minimalist spirit with the daily rhythms of the city.
Deepening its integration into the local community, the Taikoo cafe has partnered with LOUUD, a homegrown metalsmith studio. This collaboration has produced unique, limited-edition galvanised iron keychains, offering guests an opportunity to appreciate an aesthetic that fuses traditional craftsmanship with modern lifestyle.
To thank patrons for their support, Blue Bottle is offering these handcrafted keychains to the first 100 customers who make a single purchase of HK$400 or more on coffee beans, instant coffee, or other merchandise.
On the beverage front, the cafe introduces "Kyoto-style espresso," a methodology defined as "Cold by design." Built on a foundation of restraint and intention, this process honours the Kyoto tradition of slow, cold extraction by replacing pressure and force with extreme patience. While this technique carries the rigor of the brand's signature Hayes Valley Espresso, it is currently available only at Blue Bottle’s Singapore cafes and the new Taikoo location, where it is served in the iced latte and iced mocha.
Complementing the coffee programme is a curated selection of exclusive lifestyle merchandise. This includes a recycled leather shopping bag created in collaboration with the Japanese eco-friendly brand MAKOO. Exclusively available at the Taikoo Cafe, these bags are crafted from genuine leather scraps accumulated over 80 years of production.
As the leather ages with daily use, it develops a unique texture and personality, blending sustainability with premium aesthetics. Additionally, the cafe offers a stackable glass mug made of heat-resistant glass. Featuring a minimalist laser-engraved logo, the clear design allows the color of the beverage to take center stage while the stackable form ensures practical, space-saving storage.
To complete the sensory experience, Blue Bottle Coffee Taikoo Cafe provides an array of exquisite dishes, ranging from savory selections to delicate desserts and pastries, all designed to pair perfectly with its coffee offerings. The modern, thoughtful design of the space ensures that every visit is both comfortable and culturally resonant.
