Marriott International has announced a series of major job moves, including some new faces heading up its business in Asia.

The hotel company has appointed Bart Buiring as its chief sales and marketing officer for Marriott International Asia Pacific with effect from 1 January 2020. Based in Hong Kong, Buiring will oversee the company's consumer strategies across APAC, its core hotel business, and its brands, which include brand management, marketing, sales, and distribution, revenue management, loyalty, customer experience, digital, and communications. Buiring will also continue to build up the company's APAC customer base, adapt Marriott International’s brands and travel programme Marriott Bonvoy to the local market, lead the sales organisation, and drive Marriott International’s APAC distribution and pricing strategy.

Buiring - who's a 19 year veteran at Marriott International - replaces Peggy Fang Roe, as she transitions to the newly-established role of global officer for customer experience, loyalty, and new ventures, also effective from 1 January 2020.

Based out of Marriott International’s U.S headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, Fang Roe will now be responsible for orchestrating the end-to-end guest experience and the development of new ventures to accelerate customer engagement, including the continued growth of Marriott Bonvoy globally.

Another pair of important staff elevations by Marriott International has been the promotion of Henry Lee to the position of president for Greater China, and Rajeev Menon to president of Asia Pacific excluding Greater China.

“We’re on an exciting journey to grow and deliver even better experiences in 2020. I’m humbled to work with a team of accomplished and dedicated leaders as we evolve our business into new areas, grow our regional footprint, and stay one step ahead in our ambition to be Asia’s favourite travel company," commented Craig S. Smith, group president of Marriott International Asia Pacific.
