Telecommunications company Axiata Group (Axiata) and subscription video on demand service iflix have expanded their strategic collaboration to entertain over 125 million of Axiata's customers in six countries. Additionally, both companies aim to co-produce content specially for Axiata's customers in the markets covered by the collaboration. Axiata and iflix have two existing partnerships with Celcom in Malaysia and Dialog in Sri Lanka.Through the expanded collaboration, Axiata's customers will be able to make browse iflix's library of global content, while utilising Axiata's technology and connectivity services. It also underscores Axiata's commitment to innovation by offering its customers with enhanced digital features and services, as it looks to further boost its position in the telecommunications industry.“Axiata has always demonstrated a strong focus on customer experience and innovation as we strengthen our position in new sources of value, specifically in digital entertainment products and digital content distribution platforms across the region. The expansion of our collaboration with iflix is a testament to that commitment," group chief strategy & marketing officer of Axiata, Dominic Arena (pictured), said.“Together with Axiata’s highly innovative and award winning Mobile Internet Fulfilment Exchange application platform and music service Yonder, we look forward to working with Axiata to further redefine media and entertainment for Axiata’s customers in Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Nepal, over the coming months," iflix group CEO, Mark Britt, said.In May, Axiata Digital, the company's digital services arm, also entered into a strategic partnership with Unlockd, an ad and content funded mobile platform, as part of closing its Series B funding round. The partnership will provide direct access to Axiata's carrier businesses and local knowledge and key talent in the region, overseen by Unlockd’s most recent hire, Aliza Knox, chief operating officer.
