Arcade revives retro mecha-kaiju flair for Goodday Friz campaign in PH

Production house Arcade Film Factory has brought Japanese-inspired spectacle to the Philippine debut of Goodday Friz, a carbonated cultured milk drink by Asahi, distributed locally by Universal Robina Corporation.
The campaign, developed with agency 7AD, is designed to position Goodday Friz as a refreshing alternative for carbonated soft drink lovers and lapsers. Aimed at “wellness adventurers” aged 18–29, the film highlights the product’s immunity-boosting paraprobiotics while framing it as both playful and health-conscious.
Available in Original and Orange flavours, Goodday Friz speaks to young adults who see wellness not as a chore but as an effortless and fun part of daily life.

Fronting the campaign is Cloud 7, the country’s youngest P-pop boy group, whose members Johann, Lukas, Egypt, Kairo, Miguel, PJ and Fian debuted in August 2023 with their single Tara na. Their youthful energy was paired with a retro cinematic universe inspired by 80s mecha-kaiju films.
Arcade explained the creative challenge: “The biggest challenge with this project was figuring out how to hook a young audience using an old-school mecha-kaiju vibe. The team dove deep into research - studying the classic look and the retro way these films were shot - while trying to balance that gritty, outdated feel with a modern, polished edge. Along the way, we had to design a full ‘bigature’ 80s cityscape and bring the monsters to life with the right character designs. All of this had to be pulled off under a tight timeline and within a given budget.”
“When it came to shaping the final film, we had to think about what kind of visuals would click with a younger audience - while also making sure the product stood out, even within the playful world of its fictional backstory,” the company added.
The campaign credits include director Jeorge Agcaoili, executive producer Joy Rojo-Cajulis, and a team spanning production design, VFX, choreography and post-production. From constructing practical “bigatures” to choreographing monster battles, the project merged analogue techniques with digital finishing for a nostalgic yet current appeal.
Founded in 2019, Arcade has built a reputation through its in-house team of directors, producers, and creatives working with brands such as Jollibee, Netflix, and Smart Communications. The production house recently joined the m25 network to strengthen its Southeast Asian footprint and spotlight Filipino creativity on a larger stage.
