APD Singapore makes six new senior hires, plans for regional growth

APD Singapore has made a slew of senior hires, following its plan for growth in the region. All roles are based in Singapore.

Julian Chin joins as business director, handling regional accounts such as Chubb Insurance and Canon Asia. She is tasked with delivering creative and technology project management. Prior to her new role, she was from SapientNitro Hong Kong, where she was group regional account director.

Alex Thoma has been appointed as account director for Singapore, where he will work closely with the account management team. He joins from R/GA and Vocanic, where he ran Insights and analytics teams before becoming a strategic client service lead.

Both Chin and Thoma report to Lisa Walton (pictured right), country director for Singapore.

Meanwhile, Alex Robertson joins as commercial director. The role is a regional one and sees him reporting to group CFO Damien O' Donohoe. He is tasked with delivering transparency and value to APD’s clients across the spectrum of its services, with an added focus on the commercial and finance side of the business.

Prior to his new role, he was regional commercial director at Bates CHI&Partners and Ogilvy & Mather, according to his LinkedIn.

TingTing Zhang joins APD as programmatic manager and will lead programmatic initiatives in the region, reporting to Tom Jones-Barlow, account director at APD Singapore. Jones-Barlow was previously from Resolution Media and joined the company last year.

APD has also made some promotions, with Tim Sharp taking the helm as regional head of social, and Wai Hoong Tang, who was previously based in ACD Malaysia, has been promoted to head of copy. They will both be based in Singapore and report to Walton.

According to the agency, they will work together to “mimic” the success of APD Malaysia which has over 80 heads.

“Coming from client side and then through the world of ‘big agency’ has given me good insight into what drives long term effectiveness and success for brands and business, the answer is talent. How do we build the best team in the region? Who do we need? What clients will attract them and visa versa? That’s something Tobias and I both agree on and work on every single day,” Walton added.
