Otsuka Pharmaceutical (Hong Kong) has appointed Anise Chow (pictured) as its new managing director for Hong Kong, marking a significant milestone as the company names a non-Japanese leader for the first time.

In her new role, Chow will oversee the nutraceutical business across both the Hong Kong and Macau markets, while also leading the overall business strategy and direction for these regions.

In addition to managing the brand’s iconic energy drink Pocari Sweat, Chow is responsible for driving growth in the sales and marketing divisions for a portfolio of innovative products, including SOYJOY Soy Bar, The Wise Man's Dining, and UL.OS men's skincare, among others.

Chow has spent nearly tw decades with Otsuka and had helmed various senior roles within the company. Most recently, she was the marketing director of Otsuka Pharmaceutical, where she oversaw seven “nutraceutical” brands. Prior to joining Otsuka, she held positions in in-house marketing for beauty and jewelry companies, as well as advertising and event marketing agencies.

Most recently, Pocari Sweat was named the official sports drink of the 2026 Hong Kong Marathon, which welcomed over 74,000 participants racing through the heart of the city.

Meanwhile, Pocari Sweat has launched its 2026 CM Talent Audition, with casting currently underway. The initiative aims to inspire young people to push boundaries, embrace new challenges, and pursue their dreams with confidence and without regrets. This campaign reinforces Pocari Sweat’s role as a trusted companion in the journey of self-discovery and aspiration.

Back in May last year, Pocari Sweat unveiled a campaign “The future needs sweat”, highlighting the enduring importance of physical effort. The campaign came as Pocari Sweat continues its youth focus for the second year, recruiting on-screen talent as brand ambassadors. From a pool of 800 applicants, five finalists were chosen for best representing Pocari Sweat's brand values.

The five brand ambassadors, Carmen, Lily, 日朗, 柏喬, and 曉迪, range in age between 19 and 23 years old.As part of the campaign, Pocari Sweat released a video featuring its five brand ambassadors on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

The video addresses an era where technologies such as AI and virtual reality are reshaping how people live and work, making the need to sweat seem less significant. However, the campaign emphasises the enduring importance of physical effort.
