AmEx launches summer campaign featuring Anson Kong

American Express has unveiled a summer campaign video with the launch of its Explorer credit card, featuring famous boyband Mirror’s Anson Kong. Kong was seen as an explorer in his suit and swimwear in the video ad, portraying his two divergent lifestyles- either playing water sports or having drinks with friends at night.

Also known as “boss”, Kong emphasised in the video that “有得揀先至係老闆(you’re only a boss when you have a choice)”, encouraging credit card holders to register for the new AmEx card to experience more diverse lifestyles.

 

At the end of the video, Kong explains the benefits and exclusive deals upon applying for his “explorer” aka the newly launched credit card, including exclusive welcome offer worth up to HK$4,700, first-year annual fee waiver and limited edition of “Anson Kong X Explorer” sunglasses set.   Netizens have been showing support of the video, with many commenting on Youtube that the positivity and the optimistic vibe Kong has often brought in public, is compatible with the objective and style of the campaign.

Previously in June this year, American Express announced the launch of “Amex Shop Small” in Hong Kong for the seventh consecutive year, as part of the company’s global commitment to support local businesses around the world.

This year’s Amex Shop Small has around 30,000 participating local establishments, bring greater values to customers and businesses in Hong Kong. Both American Express card members and participating merchants can have a chance to join the lucky draw. They can also discover local favourites and enjoy instant savings while participating merchants can have extra resources with the support of the Hong Kong Retail Management Association (HKRMA).

Desmond Leung, vice president and general manager of global merchant & network services of Greater China at AmEx, said: “It’s encouraging to see Hong Kong is recovering from the latest wave of pandemic and the local establishments are exploring new business opportunities. This year, we’re delighted to launch Amex Shop Small campaign with the support of HKRMA. By connecting the local merchants with a leading retail association and our Cardmembers, we hope to bring more customers to the merchants’ door and fuel their recovery through a network effect. We also provide exclusive offers and rewards to encourage our Cardmembers to support the city’s distinctive and innovative local business scene.”
