Alpha Story launches AI-powered PR platform for Indonesia's MSMEs

Singapore-founded communications firm Alpha Story has launched an AI-powered marketing communications solution in Indonesia, positioning itself to serve the country's vast small business sector with more accessible brand-building, media relations and intelligence tools.

The company, which recently established an office in Central Jakarta and operates as an affiliate of local outdoor advertising company 8Infini, is targeting MSMEs as part of its Indonesian growth strategy.

The move comes as businesses across the region face growing competition for visibility in increasingly crowded digital and AI-driven discovery environments. Alpha Story said many Indonesian MSMEs remain underserved by traditional communications agencies due to cost barriers and fragmented service offerings.

According to the company, Indonesia's MSMEs account for around 99% of businesses and contribute 60.5% of the country's GDP, creating a significant opportunity for communications providers that can offer scalable and affordable solutions.

"Indonesia's MSMEs are not small in importance. They are the foundation of the economy," said Jeremy Foo, CEO of Alpha Story.

"But for too long, professional PR and strategic comms have been treated as services only larger companies can afford. We believe there is a major opportunity to use AI, better process design, and more accessible pricing to help MSMEs tell stronger stories and compete more effectively."

Alpha Story's Indonesian offering includes support for press release development, campaign positioning, media outreach and reporting, alongside guaranteed media placement packages designed to lower the barrier to entry for businesses that may not have the resources for traditional agency retainers.

"This structure is intended to give MSMEs, startups, founder-led companies, and growth-stage brands a more practical path into PR without requiring long retainers or heavy upfront commitments. Businesses can share their story, receive support on press release creation and positioning, secure media coverage, and review post-campaign reports," Foo added.

Beyond media relations, Alpha Story is introducing Indonesian clients to Alpha Echo, its proprietary AI-powered brand intelligence platform. The tool is designed to help organisations track brand perception, benchmark competitors and analyse visibility across media, social channels, search engines and emerging AI-powered discovery platforms.

The company said the platform converts signals from media coverage, social conversations, industry trends and brand-owned content into actionable recommendations for communications teams. These insights can then be applied to areas such as brand positioning, thought leadership, content strategy, search engine optimisation (SEO) and answer engine optimisation (AEO).

For Leighton Cosseboom, Indonesia country lead at Alpha Story, the challenge facing many MSMEs is not product quality but visibility.

"The issue for many Indonesian MSMEs is not that they lack good products, strong founders, or meaningful customer value," he said. "The issue is that they are often under-discovered and under-explained. They need to be found, understood, and trusted. Alpha Story Indonesia is built to help close that visibility gap."

The company argues that many communications providers still treat PR, digital marketing, media monitoring, reporting and strategy as separate disciplines. Its model instead combines these functions within a single technology-enabled platform intended to connect intelligence with execution.

Cosseboom believes this integrated approach is particularly relevant in Indonesia, where millions of businesses are seeking cost-effective ways to build credibility and reach new audiences.

"Indonesia does not have a shortage of ambitious businesses. We want to give more companies access to the tools, media pathways, and strategic guidance they need to earn credibility in the market," he added.

Alpha Story's expansion into Indonesia forms part of a broader regional strategy. The company says it has served more than 2,000 clients across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, spanning sectors including consumer goods, automotive, technology, hospitality, finance and enterprise services.

Its client roster includes entities such as Audi, Volkswagen, Agoda, University of Reading, Vietjet, UOL Group, AXS and SEMICON Southeast Asia.
