Alibaba supports young entrepreneurs

The Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund has unveiled details of its not-for-profit initiative Hong Kong Internship Program announced in November, which offers qualified college students the opportunity to work at Alibaba Group.

The internship program offers positions at Alibaba Group’s headquarters in Hangzhou or in the group’s Guangzhou office in fields including engineering, website design, mobile app development, product development, operations, finance, human resources and copywriting.

By working at the group for six to 12 months, interns are expected to learn skill sets and acquire knowledge in the e-commerce sector and gain first-hand working experience in the China market.

During the internship period, the fund will provide interns with mentoring and hotline support, knowledge-sharing sessions and financial support including living and housing allowances.

Cindy Chow, executive director of the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund, said this real-world exposure should inspire students to innovate and to expand their horizons by exploring entrepreneurial as well as working opportunities in China.

“The valuable internship experience in China should also help Hong Kong students enhance skills for their career development and help them achieve their dreams.”

The program is open for applications from full-time students currently studying Year 3 and Year 4 as well as masters degree at tertiary education institutions in Hong Kong.
