ABS-CBN, GMA, Rappler win laurels at Spark 2014

Media giants ABS-CBN Corporation and GMA Network and social media news portal Rappler have brought home top awards at Marketing’s inaugural Spark Awards for Media Excellence, bagging a total of 19 trophies last 28 August.

ABS-CBN Corporation was crowned Best in Show for winning 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze. The top awards it won also include Best Event by a Media Owner and Best Campaign by a Media Owner.

GMA Marketing and Productions also hauled in 3 Gold awards for Best Media Solution for TV/Online Video, Best App by a Media Owner and Best use of Branded Content by a Media Owner. It also bagged 1 Silver and 3 Bronze awards.

True to its platform, Rappler nabbed the gold award for Best Media Solution – Social Media for #WHIPIT, a multi-platform campaign with Procter & Gamble’s Pantene and BBDO Guerrero that challenged women’s labels launched in August 2013. It also won bronze for Best Media Solution – Online and Best Content Team.

The Spark Awards honours top media owners in the Southeast Asia region, giving them the chance to showcase their value proposition and strength to the industry.

More than 170 entries were received, judged by media professionals who head some of the most renowned agencies in the region, such as Havas, Mindshare and ZenithOptimedia, Aegis Media, among others. Partnering with the Spark Awards were Bid4Ad, ThoughtBuzz, CornerStone, Freeflow Productions, Kronenbourg 1664 and Lanyon.
