Singapore-headquartered digital property portal 99.co has appointed former PropertyGuru Indonesia country manager Wasudewan (pictured) as its new deputy CEO for Indonesia. In a statement to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, a spokesperson from 99 Group said Wasudewan will be responsible for leading its property business operations in Indonesia. According to his LinkedIn page, this includes platforms 99.co.id and rumah123.com, and the focus is to turn 99 Group into the best solution provider for its consumers, property developers, property agents, banks, and other stakeholders. In his new role, Wasudewan reports to Chong Ming Hwee, CEO of 99 Group Indonesia, and Darius Cheng, co-founder and CEO at 99 Group.

"Wasudewan’s main focus will be our business operations in Indonesia, which makes up more than 78% of 99 Group's market capitalisation in Southeast Asia," the spokesperson added. Under Wasudewan's leadership, 99 Group will be looking to adopt more technological tools such as artificial intelligence to analyse consumer behaviour and aid in the company's decision-making processes.

Prior to 99.co, Wasudewan was the CEO of automobile company Oto, where he was responsible for driving aggressive organisational and revenue growth for three years. He also had a five-month stint with consumer automotive company MPM Group before that. Wasudewan also helmed the role of country manager of Indonesia at PropertyGuru in 2015. During his time there, he was responsible for managing sales and operations, as well as developing business and increasing profitability for rumah.com and rumahdijual.com.

Before that, Wasudewan also helmed the roles of head of national business development and business development manager at Property Guru, his LinkedIn added. Other places that Wasudewan has worked at include EF English First, Wall Street Institute, ANZ, and Standard Chartered Bank. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to 99.co for additional information.

In 2019, 99.co and property digital advertising conglomerate REA Group established a joint venture to create the largest customer and listings footprint in Singapore and Indonesia. The joint venture company was established through the transfer of the existing businesses of 99.co and REA Group (parent company of iProperty.com.sg and Rumah123.com) in Singapore and Indonesia.

The combined company seeks to provide the most compelling property marketplaces in Singapore and Indonesia, while delivering the best digital platforms to property professionals to help them grow their businesses, said a press release then. While 99.co shareholders retain shareholdings in the joint venture company totalling 73%, REA Group, was said to contribute US$8 million in working capital, is the largest shareholder with a 27% shareholding.
