Creative agency 160over90 has appointed John Steere as its senior vice president and managing director for its China office.

In his new role, Steere will be responsible for further developing 160over90’s presence in Asia, catering to the growing demand for advertising, experiential, PR, and sponsorships. Based in Shanghai, Steere will lead a team of ten staff spread across Shanghai and Beijing.

“160over90 and the broader Endeavor network have a strong foundation in Asia, and I’m excited about how much more we can do across sport, entertainment, music, and fashion. I am eager to work with our clients and prospective clients to realise the value we can add to their businesses,” said Steere.

Joining from Imagination China, Steere oversaw the experience agency’s push into client diversification and localisation. Prior to that, he was president of MyMM, (Lane Crawford’s eCommerce marketplace platform), where he led a team of about 200 in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

“Steere brings a wealth of expertise in working with brands looking to engage consumers through culture,” said Robin Clarke, senior vice president, International of 160over90.

That claim of expertise is hard to argue with, as Steere has 30 years of leadership and marketing experience spanning PR, digital, shopper marketing, activation, and eCommerce. He also has experience working for top global brands and agencies including Visa, Gartner, McCann, Saatchi & Saatchi, and DDB.

Clarke adds, “His appointment is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to scale our operations in both China and the wider APAC region. We are delighted to welcome him to the 160over90 family and excited about the value he can bring to both our business and our clients’ businesses.”
