Veeam Software has appointed Mika Yamamoto (pictured) as chief marketing and customer AI officer, a leadership role that combines responsibility for the company's global marketing organisation with oversight of its customer AI strategy.

In her new position, Yamamoto will lead Veeam's global marketing efforts while developing the company's customer AI framework, designed to make customer interactions more relevant, contextual and consistent throughout the customer journey.

The company said the framework will help ensure each customer engagement builds on previous interactions while providing organisations with clearer guidance on how to maximise the value and security of their data as AI adoption accelerates.

Anand Eswaran, CEO of Veeam, said Yamamoto's experience spanning marketing, sales, customer support and go-to-market transformation made her well suited to the role.

"She has experienced this industry from every angle - analyst, operator, executive leader - and has consistently put the customer and partner at the centre of how companies operate. She knows how to drive growth through building a brand, creating demand, and connecting the entire story from first impression to value delivered. Mika will play a critical role in shaping how we show up in the market and the experiences we deliver to every customer," Eswaran added.

Yamamoto joins Veeam from Freshworks, where she served as chief integrated customer growth officer, overseeing AI-powered customer and employee experience across marketing, sales, customer success and support.

Her career also includes senior leadership positions at F5, where she was chief customer engagement and marketing officer, and at Marketo, where she served as president before the company's acquisition by Adobe and later became general manager of the Marketo business.

Earlier in her career, she held senior marketing roles at SAP and Microsoft, was a research vice president at Gartner, and worked as a consultant at Accenture. She also serves on the board of directors of BlackLine, where she chairs the compensation committee.

Commenting on her appointment, Yamamoto said organisations increasingly require trusted data foundations to support enterprise AI adoption.

"I'm excited to join this incredible team. Veeam is doing something genuinely unique, ensuring that a core asset, data and AI, can deliver remarkable impact for their customers," said Yamamoto.

"Organisations are putting AI to work across every function in their businesses. They need complete visibility, control, and security over the data behind their agentic and human-driven processes on a single trusted platform. Veeam is well-positioned to deliver this value. What also excites me is that Veeam cares as much about how they do their work as the impact they provide to their customers, partners and employees."
