China's beermaker Tsingtao has apologised for the mismanagement of its raw material transportation after it initiated probe into a viral video that shows a factory employee urinating on raw ingredients.
This comes after a video clip that showed a male worker at a Tsingtao Brewery warehouse No. 3 climbing into a malt container and urinating on raw ingredients, went viral in mid October.

According to its official statement on Weibo released on 1 November, Tsingtao said one of its factory workers urinated in a truck carrying raw materials at Tsingtao Brewery No. 3 on 19 October. The employee has been detained by the public security authorities on suspicion of intentional damage to property.
“The incident reflected that we have loopholes in the management of raw material transportation. We feel deeply guilty and distressed about this, and we must seriously reflect and make rectifications. Here, we would like to express our sincere apologies to all consumers,” said the statement.
After the company initiated an investigation into the incident, it has decided to implement several measures to prevent similar incidents from happening, including implementing a quality control system so that all raw material transportation vehicles are changed to fully enclosed dump trucks to achieve no contact between personnel and materials.
Furthermore, the factory monitoring system is upgraded to an artificial intelligence behaviour recognition monitoring system to strengthen real-time and effective monitoring of the entire process.
It will also strengthen the management of outsourced business personnel, incorporate them into integrated factory management, and further strengthen the training of staff.
The company has also set up a special investigation team to look into the dereliction of duty of relevant responsible units and responsible persons, and will deal with it seriously in accordance with regulations and disciplines.
On the other hand, the company is conducting harmless treatment of the sealed malt under the supervision of the market supervision department to ensure that it does not enter the food production and processing links.
